I'm an open-minded fellow, and my open mind has lead me around the world. I've visited pubs in the Peak District, England, downtown bars in Sydney, the neon streets of Tokyo, and the narrow "soi"s of Bangkok. But one place I'll always remember.
In Everett, Washington there is this crazy little bar, aptly named Twisted. I first went there about 7 years ago when a friend of mine suggested that we go out to blow off some steam. I had recently gone through a abnormally rough break-up and desperately needed to meet new people and to get out and have some fun. Dodging the pigeon poop that fell like rain from the roof of the building we made our way inside and were instantly greeted by a tall, smiling, handsome man. He introduced himself as Travis and took our drink order. Waiting for our drinks I began looking around at the pictures and décor of the establishment and in doing so got quite a surprise! Twisted was a gay bar! I have no problem with homosexuals so my friend and I went about our business of throwing darts at the dart board but more often than not, sticking them in to the wall instead. This garnered us considerable attention from behind the bar and when Travis came with our drinks he said with a mischievous grin, “I hope your aim improves before you have to use the restroom!” I blushed and began laughing so hard that my sides hurt and tears were streaming down my face. The drinks were great but it is the staff that really makes the bar a favorite of mine. To this day I go to Twisted on a regular basis just to enjoy time with Travis and the rest of the crew and as my aim did indeed improve, Travis continues to let me in. |

Social sites are really giving me an opportunity to learn about so many countries, most of which I may not have a chance to visit even in future. I have so far met so many friends especially in Flickr where we share photos from our different countries and different events. Some countries like China are very fascinating. I wish I will be able to visit China in future at least once. I have other friends from other countries too, and the photos they post in the site are amazing. There is one photo that I like the most, where my Flickr friend is having an afternoon tea sussex style, and he is in the company of his sisters. I wish we have such parties in my country, so I can take as many photos as possible and share them in this site. Good thing about Flickr is that the security of users is guaranteed even as they share their personal photos. One chooses the privacy settings that suits them, and only friends are allowed to view your photos. |

Going by our company's traditions, we organized our own parties. A department was picked at random every time we had a party and they would organize the whole thing. On this particular year, I thought of changing the tradition to see what changes would be experienced. My department was picked to plan for that oncoming party. Instead of doing it our usual way, I proposed vintage crockery hire to my colleagues. They were up to it. Everybody knew vintage and we were so sure that the results were going to be great. We did all the plans together with vintage without letting the other departments know about it. When the party day came, everything was ready. We surprised everyone who attended the party because we had everything in check, properly planned. We were so excited about their reaction that we could not help telling how we acquired help from vintage. We could not hide the truth any longer. Believe it or not, our company tradition pertaining party organization changed. These days, we only hire vintage and everything is done for us. |
