Looking for a Way to Grow Professionally

Anywhere I go, people would always ask me how come I am not holding a higher position in the company. They say that my experience and my educational background are more than enough to merit a promotion. Honestly, I ask myself the same question. Although I am not complaining, I cannot also deny the fact that I feel ignored and taken for granted. Having served the company for twelve years, I honestly think that I deserve more than what I am given. Sometimes I wonder if my being shy gets in the way of my job. But when I think about it, I come to a realization that shyness can be overcome in time, with sufficient experience and effective leadership coaching. And then I feel bad because no one is willing to take a chance on me. Am I not worth anything to them? Have I not proven anything in my many years of dedicated service to the company? All these led me to a decision - to leave the company and search for a place where I can develop more professionally.
